Did you know:
- This flag was created in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, who was an artist, activist, and openly gay US military veteran.
- Baker was assigned by Harvey Milk to create a flag for the queer community, to which he created a rainbow flag with eight different colours.
- The flag was first flown in the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade on June 25, 1978.
