Fly it with Pride: How to Take Care of Your Pride Flag

Whether you’ve bought a flag from us or not, you need to show your Pride flag some love to ensure it lasts a long time. Luckily for you, printed flags aren’t too high maintenance. We’ve put together a quick guide to help you take care of your flag using our expertise – One Stop Promotions’ 30 years’ experience in the printing and merchandise business means we know a thing or two!

Let’s get into it:

Tip 1:

Might seem obvious, but avoid exposing your flag to rain, snow or strong winds; these conditions can shorten the life of your Pride flag considerably.

Tip 2:

To keep your flag’s Pride colours looking bright, clean your flag regularly to avoid discolouration from dirt, smoke or dust. You can hand-wash your Pride flag with warm water and a mild soap, but our flags can be washed in a normal household washing machine. Just make sure you’ve got it set to a 40 degree wash with a normal or a mild detergent. Be sure to avoid the use of soda or bleach. Once washed, spread it out nicely to dry - never store your flag when wet.

Tip 3:

Hanging your Pride flag outside? Great - just don’t place it where the wind will hit it against rough surfaces, tree branches, wires, etc. The smallest tear can soon result in a tattered flag! When attaching the flag onto a pole, make sure you keep the pole free of heavy dirt which could damage your flag.

Tip 4:

Thinking of ironing your Pride flag? You’ll be quite literally making it straight! All kidding aside, we don’t recommend using an iron on our flags as the heat can cause a lot of damage. But should you need to, a good tip is to use low heat on the iron and put your flag on an ironing board with a t-shirt on top of the flag as a precaution.

You might notice when you receive your Pride flag from us, it may appear creased; this is due to the necessary coating on flag fabric. Once the fabric has been exposed to the elements, the creasing will disappear.

Those tips are pretty much all you need to know for now; following them will help your Pride flag to have a long and happy life. Remember all our flags, along with our bunting, can be used indoors or outdoors; here’s a little bonus for you to take some inspiration from as to where and how to hang your Pride flags:
